Overview

Our browser–based software application enables companies to extend and reliably deploy a secure and controlled role based access label printing system through–out their global enterprise to anyone with Internet access. Its inherent design makes robust plug and play remote printing system possible when combined with Loftware’s renowned LPS® printing infrastructure and open system web based server technologies. User access can be permitted or forbidden on a per–user, per-label basis for 3rd parties, contract manufacturers and even seasonally-based suppliers.

User Authentication Prevents Unauthorized Use

The Loftware WebAccess Client provides secure access to label printing through username and password process authentication. It works with existing corporate active directories such as LDAP to limit access to the label printing function to authorized users. Using the existing corporate active directory accelerates implementation, eliminates maintenance of a separate user access management system, and minimizes IT support requirements. It also allows access to label printing to stay current with any changes to the corporate user community.

Controlled Access to Authorized Label Templates

The Loftware WebAccess Client uses Role Based Access Control (RBAC) to restrict individual user access to only those label templates and label printers for which they have granted permission. This RBAC is customer configurable and allows companies to set up as many user roles as they may require – including creation of unique roles for each individual user. It also prevents the unauthorized printing of ‘valid’ company labels within the company or among its business partners.

Secure Communication Keeps Counterfeiters Out

The Loftware WebAccess Client makes use of the Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) cryptographic protocols to provide secure communication over the enterprise WAN/LAN network or Internet. Sensitive label data is protected from unauthorized access by brand counterfeiters.

Label Compliance

The Loftware Label Manager includes label templates that serve as building blocks to speed the design of compliant labels. With the Loftware Label Manager companies can readily adhere to the product (retail unit), container (trade unit), and/or shipment (logistics unit) label standards established by Government Regulatory Agencies, International Standards Bodies, Industry Trade Groups, Third Party Logistics and Shipping Companies, and Strategic Business Partners.

Print Notification Saves Time and Money

Loftware’s print status notification capability advises the user of print status of their labels – printed, pending or failure. This assurance saves wasted time used to track down print–related issues–saving costs in time and materials.

Customizable User Interface for Corporate Branding Guidelines

The Loftware WebAccess Client features Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) written in XSL (eXtensible Stylesheet Language) that allows customers to readily modify its ‘look and feel’ to match corporate standards. The user interface can be adapted to feature the corporate logo, colors, and font styles.

Service-Oriented Architecture and Web Services boosts Communication between Platforms

The Loftware WebAccess Client uses Loftware’s Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) infrastructure to exchange label print requests and label print data using Web Services. These Web Services support interoperable machine–to–machine interaction over a network and the communication between different software applications (e.g., the web browser, Loftware Print Server) running on a variety of platforms and/or frameworks. This enables the Loftware WebAccess Client to be deployed wherever it is needed without regard to the client platform operating system.

Simplified User Support lowers IT Desktop Management and Investment Costs

The Loftware WebAccess Client eliminates the need to deploy and manage ‘thick’ client software on the user work station or PC desktop thereby lowering IT desktop management costs. The hardware requirements to use the Loftware WebAccess Client are minimal thus eliminating the need to invest in robust end-user systems. It supports market-leading web browsers that are either shipped with PC workstations or are available as free downloads.

Localization of Browser Interface

This important feature allows the user experience to be tailored to this native language, thus ensuring lower cost, shorter training time and faster remote deployment. It is an essential feature for remote or 3rd party users.
